The Natal Network is a CQC-registered provider offering specialist care in tongue-tie assessment and treatment, as well as infant feeding support. We work with a combination of directly employed practitioners, independent practitioners and associate practitioners from external organisations.
Some practitioners delivering care under The Natal Network may also work for other organisations. When delivering a tongue-tie division (frenulotomy) as part of our service, directly employed and associate practitioners do so under The Natal Network’s clinical governance framework. This includes adherence to our policies, procedures, and clinical oversight to ensure care is safe, consistent, and evidence-based.
Independent practitioners deliver care under their own clinical responsibility and professional registration. While they may work in partnership with The Natal Network, they are not operating under our clinical governance framework and do not deliver a regulated activity as defined by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) through our organisation.
All practitioners are expected to meet high standards of clinical competence, safeguarding, and communication, regardless of their contractual relationship with The Natal Network.
Our governance and oversight apply equally to practitioners directly employed by The Natal Network and associate practitioners working for us via contracted organisations.

Director, Clinical Lead, and Registered Manager – Emily Goldsworthy
This role holds overarching responsibility for the leadership, governance, and regulatory compliance of the service. It includes strategic oversight of clinical quality, safety, and performance, ensuring that all care is delivered in accordance with national standards and The Natal Network’s policies. As the CQC Registered Manager, the individual is accountable for maintaining service registration and meeting all regulatory obligations, including statutory notifications. They oversee clinical protocols, lead clinical supervision, audits and investigations, and investigations, and drive continuous quality improvement across the service.
The Clinical Governance Committee provides multidisciplinary oversight of clinical quality, safety, and compliance within The Natal Network. Chaired by the Director and Clinical Lead or their delegate, the committee includes key members such as directly employed registered and non registered practitioners and associate registered and non registered practitioners. The committee is responsible for reviewing incidents, complaints, audits, and risk data; monitoring clinical effectiveness and patient outcomes; overseeing practitioner training, and professional development; and ensuring alignment with CQC standards and internal governance protocols. This group plays a central role in maintaining a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Practitioners at The Natal Network, whether directly employed or employed through an external organisation, are responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, evidence-based care within their professional scope and in line with applicable regulations.
Directly employed practitioners and associate practitioners operate under The Natal Network’s clinical governance framework, including our policies, protocols, and oversight structures. These practitioners remain professionally accountable to their respective regulatory bodies.
Independent practitioners work autonomously and are clinically responsible for their own practice. They do not deliver activities regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under The Natal Network and operate outside our regulated service provision
Non-Registered Practitioners are individuals who contribute to the delivery of care without holding registration with a professional regulatory body. they work under supervision and within defined scopes of practice to support patients, service users, and clinical teams. Their duties may include administrative support, basic care tasks, health education, or assisting with service delivery, depending on the needs of the service.
Non-registered practitioners are managed and supervised by a Registered practitioner with clinical oversight via the clinical lead, who ensure safe, effective, and appropriate practice in line with organisational standards and policies. While they are not professionally registered, their role is essential to the day-to-day functioning and quality of care provided by the wider team.
